Thunderstorms in the area caused a high number of lightning strikes.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Constable deputies and the Spring Fire Department responded to a house fire after lightning struck a home in the Auburn Lakes neighborhood Friday afternoon. No injuries were reported.

Video footage shows flames shooting from the roof of the home on Antique Cedar Lane, not far from the Augusta Pines golf course. The incident was captured on a doorbell camera, which recorded the moment lightning hit the house.

Emergency responders put the fire out by 2:30 p.m.

It’s not clear if anyone was inside the home when the fire started.

The extent of damage to the residence has not yet been determined.

The Auburn Lakes community is between The Woodlands and the Grand Parkway, west of I-45.

The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office will determine the official cause of the fire.

An apartment also caught fire in Spring Friday afternoon. Four units were damaged in the complex south of Hirschfield Road and east of Aldine Westfield Road.
