Three homes destroyed after fire in Denton County neighborhood

Three homes were destroyed following a fire Sunday afternoon near Little Elm.

DENTON COUNTY, Texas — Three homes were destroyed after catching fire near Little Elm Sunday, according to the Little Elm Fire Department. It happened in the 1200 block of Point Street in the Rocky Point neighborhood in unincorporated Denton County.

According to Little Elm FD, neighbors called 911 around 2:10 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Video shows a small home on fire before firefighters arrived. Fire investigators believe that after the blaze went up in the initial home, it spread to two other homes.

One person had to be treated on scene for injuries but is expected to be ok, according to fire officials. Everyone else, including pets, made it out safely.

Little Elm FD said 59 personnel responded to the scene from several North Texas departments.

It took fire crews about two hours to get everything under control. There are no fire hydrants in the neighborhood, so firefighters had to haul water in on tanker trucks, according to the Little Elm Fire Department. The back and forth caused some delay in the firefighting effort, according to fire officials.

Fire crews were still on scene hours later, monitoring for hotspots.

The Denton County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating, but the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
