WhatsApp is rolling out a set of new features globally to make group calls more organized, interactive, and productive. These include scheduling tools, interactive options like reactions and hand raise, as well as enhancements to call links. The update aims to support both casual conversations and professional meetings, offering users more control and structure during group calls.

With the new scheduling feature, users can set up calls in advance directly from the Calls tab. By tapping the + button and selecting Schedule call, they can choose a date, time, and participants, then share call links. Scheduled calls will appear in the Calls tab with details such as attendee lists and the option to add them to personal calendars. Participants also get a notification reminder before the call begins, reducing the chance of missed meetings.

WhatsApp is also making group calls more interactive. A new hand raise option lets participants signal when they want to speak, helping maintain order in large discussions. Meanwhile, call reactions allow users to respond with emojis without interrupting the flow of conversation, making calls more dynamic and engaging.

Call links have received improvements as well. Now, whenever someone joins a call through a shared link, the link creator gets a notification for better tracking of participation. Despite these added features, WhatsApp maintains its end-to-end encryption, ensuring that all personal calls remain private and secure while delivering a more professional and user-friendly experience.
As per a statement by WhatsApp, “Today, we’re introducing the ability to schedule WhatsApp calls for later and raise your hand or react with an emoji when on a call. We’re launching these updates to give users new ways to connect, whether for family catch-ups or professional meetings.”
