Announcing his new AI startup, Elon Musk took a cheeky dig at Bill Gates’s co-founded company, Microsoft. The billionaire also called in for applications for the same. He wrote,
Join xAI and help build a purely AI software company called Macrohard. It’s a tongue-in-cheek name, but the project is very real!”
Explaining the purpose of yet another AI venture, the Tesla boss quipped,
In principle, given that software companies like Microsoft do not themselves manufacture any physical hardware, it should be possible to simulate them entirely with AI.”
Elon Musk’s xAI has been making strides over the course of two years since its launch as an OpenAI rival. OpenAI’s ChatGPT went viral as the 2023 dawned, while Musk was a little too engaged with his latest $44 billion acquisition Twitter, which he rebranded as X. The brand was later merged into xAI.
The company’s upcoming AI chatbot Grok 5 has been dubbed as a first real leap towards AGI, a common claim by every other rival tech giant for their latest products. Earlier Grok 3 was retired for Grok 4, after the predecessor went on an antisemitic ranting spree. The glitch was fixed, as the AI firm’s new NSFW AI avatars went viral. That explains the high school grade backbencher jibes by Musk.
