No injuries were reported in the crash, officials say.

FORNEY, Texas — A crash between a train and an 18-wheeler blocked intersections in the Downtown area of Forney Friday afternoon, police say.

Forney police said emergency crews responded after a semi truck carrying a backhoe got stuck on the tracks and was hit by a train shortly after 1 p.m. No injuries were reported and there are no concerns about hazardous materials, officials say.

“Supplemental resources have been notified to aid in clearing the incident and restoring access to all crossings. We appreciate the public’s understanding and patience as this incident is being addressed,” the Forney Police Department said in a statement.

Forney police said as of around 4:30 p.m. the crash scene is being cleared and train crossings at Center Street, Chestnut Street, and FM 548 are open.

Police say the Elm Street crossing is still blocked as of about 4:30 p.m., and the Bois D’Arc crossing will likely be closed for several days as Union Pacific repairs damage to the train track and crossing arms.

WFAA chopper footage from the scene showed crews working to clear debris alongside the train and 18-wheeler.

Forney police are asking drivers to avoid the area if possible.
