Apple is gearing up to launch the iPhone 17 series next month, but fresh leaks suggest that its long-rumored foldable iPhone could debut next year. Internally codenamed V68, the device is said to adopt a design similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, unfolding into a compact tablet-style form factor, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
The foldable iPhone will reportedly be the first foldable with a creaseless display. It will be made possible due to a state of the art laser-drilled metal display plate.
We expect the iPhone Fold to launch in the second half of 2026 with a ≈ $1999 starting price.

Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone is expected to feature a total of four cameras—one on the front, one on the inside, and two on the rear. Unlike current iPhones, the device is rumored to drop Face ID in favor of Touch ID, and it will reportedly lack a SIM card slot, relying fully on eSIM support. This could make it appear as a slight step back compared to Apple’s existing flagships.

Suppliers have already begun early work on the foldable iPhone, with Apple reportedly planning to ramp up production early next year. The launch window is being targeted for fall, which means the foldable could debut alongside the iPhone 18 series. This aligns with Apple’s tradition of major fall launches for its flagship devices.
Some reports also hint that the foldable model could launch alongside the iPhone 18 Air, iPhone 18 Pro, and Pro Max. However, the standard iPhone 18 may be delayed until 2027, possibly to create a more distinct product lineup and avoid overlap in Apple’s release cycle.

For now, the foldable iPhone is said to be in testing with only two color options—black and white. This suggests Apple might keep the initial release limited in design variety, though plans could evolve ahead of launch. Additionally, the device is expected to use Apple’s in-house C2 modem, marking a shift away from Qualcomm’s cellular modems.
Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to make waves, but its success may largely depend on pricing. Most Android foldables already carry steep price tags, ranging from $899 for Samsung’s Galaxy Flip 7 SE to nearly $2,000 for premium models like the Galaxy Z Fold series. Apple, known for positioning its products at the higher end, is unlikely to price its foldable any lower. According to Mark Gurman, the debut model will be available only in black and white, with suppliers preparing for mass production early next year ahead of a fall 2026 launch.
