During the recently held bilateral talk between the American President Donald Trump and his South Korean counterpart Lee Jae Myung, the latter’s remark has gone viral. When Trump stated his desire to meet Kim Jung Un, the North Korean leader, in a seemingly tongue-in-cheek comment, the South Korean president quipped,
“I look forward to your meeting with the chairman Kim Jong-un and construction of a Trump Tower in North Korea and playing golf at that place.”
President Trump chuckled as the statement was translated into English. Vice President JD Vance also broke his corporate composure.
Donald Trump first met with Kim Jong Un in 2018 at the 2018 North Korea–United States Singapore Summit. The historic meeting was held at the Capella Hotel in Singapore’s Sentosa Island.

South Korea has been slapped with 15% tariff by Trump that will cover the country;s chief exports to the US, namely cars and semiconductors. Despite the diplomatic meet, the tariff are here to stay for the Republic of Korea. Trump quipped, ““They had some problems with it, but we stuck to our guns.”
Meanwhile reactions poured in with the internet divided whether the South Korean president’s remark was genuine humor or troll max. One user remarked, “World leaders are stealing SNL jokes at this point.” Another user wrote, “Trump got no respect or credibility left. every tom dick and harry humiliates him now, rightfully.” A third user commented, “It appears that South Korea also understands the subtle art of the Sarcastic Putdown.” Yet another user commented, “It was a left handed compliment to President Trump by the South Korean President.”
