‘Please lend a helping hand’ | Matthew McConaughey asks for help on behalf of Texas flood victims

TEXAS, USA — The Texas Hill Country was devastated by historic flooding over the Fourth of July weekend with a death toll that continues to climb as the days pass.

On Sunday, Texas-born actor Matthew McConaughey became the latest of the many celebrities to advocate for support, donations and prayers for those affected by the floods in the Hill Country.

“At least 70 lives have been lost, so many more are unaccounted for, and countless Texans are hurting – inside and out,” McConaughey said in his social media post. “If you’re able, please lend a helping hand where and how you can. It’s gonna be a long road ahead, but right now the shock, the pain, and the chaos need the steady hand of a neighbor. Texans are some of the most resilient and generous people on the planet.”
