Twenty years after Hurricane Katrina, Katrina: Come Hell and High Water returns to New Orleans to hear from those who lived through the disaster. Now, they’re still dealing with its consequences.
The series uses first-person interviews, archival footage, and never-before-seen material to examine the storm and its aftermath. You gain a front-row seat to how the crisis was magnified by human neglect, as well as racial and economic disparities. The documentary also highlights how systemic failure changed the city forever.
More than the chronicle of a catastrophe, the docuseries is a testament to human resilience. It’s moving to see survivors and present-day residents reflect on loss and identity. At the same time, it pays tribute to New Orleans: the culture, the community, the music, and the rebuilding, imperfect as it is. The city suffered, but never lost its spirit.
