1 person killed in North Texas storms that toppled RVs, RV park manager confirms

The storms also caused three 18-wheelers overturning on northbound I-35E, officials said.

DENTON COUNTY, Texas — Severe storms across parts of North Texas have caused severe damage and killed one person at an RV park, the RV park manager told WFAA.

The storm also ripped a hole close to 50 feet wide in the roof of a Walmart distribution center, officials say. According to Denton County officials, no injuries were reported at the distribution center, and all employees were sent home.

There was also damage reported to RVs at McClain’s Longhorn RV, with one person sent to Denton Presbyterian Hospital with critical injuries.

The manager of the RV park that sustained damage from the storm later confirmed that the person who went to the hospital died.

The storms also caused traffic backups after three 18-wheelers were overturned by the weather on northbound I-35E South, officials say, south of Sanger at Ganza Road. All vehicle traffic was shut down.

Officials say Denton County’s Goliath mobile communications command center was sent to Sanger for support. The first reports of damage were received within minutes.
