CARL HIGBIE (HOST): Well, as the federal government braces for a potential shutdown, President Trump has basically just — not basically, he has canceled any scheduled Oval Office meetings with congressional leaders Chuckie Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries.
Trump posting on Truth, in part, after reviewing the details of the unserious and ridiculous demands being made by the minority radical left Democrats in return for their votes to keep the country thriving — country open, I have decided that no meeting with their congressional leaders could possibly be productive. I mean, they want like $1 trillion dollars in taxpayer funds for the trans surgery for kids, health care for illegal aliens, just to name a few, just to keep the government open.
Hard pass pal. Shut it down. I see this as a win-win.
Columnist at the American Spectator, Jeff Lord and Daily Caller reporter Ashley Brasfield. Ashley, I sit here and I think, like, look, I’m a veteran. I get services through the VA occasionally and this would minorly affect me. And I’m still like, let’s go, shut it down.
ASHLEY BRASFIELD (GUEST): Right. Yeah, I mean, $1 trillion dollars going to transgender surgeries. I was a division one athlete myself. I don’t want to hear that. You know, American taxpayers don’t want to hear that.
And, you know, I cover congressional Capitol Hill all the time. And this really is reminding me of what’s been going on with the nominations process with the Democrat blockade. But, of course, here we are down to the last minute, seven days left for Congress to get this thing done. And President Trump wants a continuing resolution. And he said, you know, enough with the Democrats. Let’s make it happen with the Republicans. We have enough infighting we got to get it through.
