Nationwide — DeShuna Spencer, Founder and CEO of kweliTV and her 501(c)(3) partner, the Black Indie Creatives Coalition (BICC), have announced Black.Indie.Ignite., a two-day gathering on October 3-4, 2025, in Los Angeles, California, is designed to power the next wave of Black indie filmmakers, immersive creators, and creative technologists. Blending intimate fireside conversations with hands-on Ignition Labs, the summit offers creators practical tools, career strategy, and community to move ideas from vision to screen.
Anchored by the theme “Ignite Your Vision,” Black.Indie.Ignite. brings together artists, innovators, and industry allies for skill-building, candid talks, and intentional networking—centered on ownership, sustainability, and culture-shifting storytelling.
Event Highlights:
• Fireside Chats with creative leaders on building sustainable careers, navigating distribution and protecting IP
• Ignition Labs (workshops) on brand building, pitch craft, festival strategy, audience growth and emerging tech
• Creator Connections: small-group meetups and facilitated networking to spark collaborations across film, TV, and creative tech
• Showcase Moments celebrating global Black indie stories and the makers behind them
“Black.Indie.Ignite. is about more than inspiration—it’s about resourcing creators with real pathways to grow their craft, their audience, and their businesses,” said DeShuna Elisa Spencer, founder & CEO of kweliTV and co-host of the summit. “We’re building a space where our stories, our data, and our futures are owned by us despite the current climate.”
