ALISON MALONI (HOST): All right, Anthony, then they blame the Republicans for shutting down the government for not complying.
ANTHONY D’ESPOSITO (GUEST): Yeah. I mean, maybe that message is going to work on MSDNC, but it’s not going to work for the American people. Especially, and I think the Republican conference is doing a great job of going through old tweets and old soundbites from floor speeches where Democrats are indicating that a shutdown would be catastrophic and that, you know, trying to blame the Republican circus. Listen, it’s very clear the Republicans did their job. They voted on a CR, a clean CR, and instead, the Democrats are now fighting. And instead of fighting for the American people — and I think this is something that needs to needs to be reminded to everyone listening — they’re not fighting for the American people. They’re fighting for health care for illegal migrants. That’s not the winning message.
MARC LOTTER (HOST): No. And I think they’re also misreading the fact that people don’t care if they shut it down. Like, less government, you know. It used to be a big deal. Now it’s just less government. You can get away with it and you never miss how much — you realize how much government you don’t miss.
