WASHINGTON — Former “16 and Pregnant” star Whitney Purvis was arrested on Monday for involuntary manslaughter.
Purvis, 33, was arrested in Floyd County, Georgia, and faces a felony charge in connection with a drug overdose death from earlier this year, according to records obtained by TEGNA. The ex-reality TV star was also charged with distribution of a controlled substance and use of a communication device to commit a felony involving controlled substances.
The 33-year-old’s arrest stems from an incident on Feb. 16 after the overdose death of a man named John Harris in Rome, Georgia. In a warrant for Purvis’ arrest, authorities allege that the “16 and Pregnant” alum supplied Harris with a controlled substance known as “Tranq,” a combination of Xylazine and Fentanyl, leading to the man’s death.
Purvis’ arrest also comes a month after the death of her son Weston, who was 16.
“I love you so much, Weston Owen Gosa. God, I love you so much. You are my heart. I was so proud of the young man you were becoming. I just can’t go on without you,” she added. “Rest in Peace, my angel. You are gone too soon. April 2, 2009 – June 2, 2025.”
TMZ reported that Purvis’ son died of natural causes.
