HALTOM CITY, Texas — The Haltom City Police Department is mourning one of its own.

The department announced the death of K9 Officer Ghost after what officials described as a hard-fought battle with illness.

Ghost had served with the department since 2019 and was remembered Tuesday for his loyalty, courage and dedication to both the force and the community.

“K9 Ghost’s contributions to public safety and his partnership with his K9 handler, Browder, were instrumental in protecting our officers and residents,” the department said in a statement. “His legacy will live on through the work he accomplished and the many lives he touched during his years of service.”

The department thanked residents and supporters who stood by Ghost throughout his career and illness, noting that he had made a lasting impact on Haltom City.
