The milestones keep on coming for the football team at the University of North Texas.
The Mean Green won their 11th game Friday, the most in school history.
Now the team eyes a probable American Conference Championship game and possibly a berth in the College Football Playoffs.
Students left DATCU Stadium in high spirits after Friday’s 52-25 blowout win against the Temple Owls.
The team notched its 11th victory for the first time ever, the latest in a history-making season.
Last month, the Mean Green played their first sellout home game in program history.
Then this month, they became a Top 25-ranked team in the AP Poll for the first time since 1959.
“Wow, it’s crazy to see all the support and selling out the stadium, and it’s just so cool,” said senior Riley Respondek.
Winning Friday’s game, the last of the season, puts UNT in a prime position to play in the American Conference Championship game.
Winning that game could land them in the 12-team College Football Playoffs.
UNT graduate Roger Sotelo and his friends were all smiles while tailgating through Friday’s win.
“It’d be really great to see them out on the field and to win that championship, been a supporter for the past you know decade now, so really excited to see them hopefully win,” said Sotelo.
UNT confirmed this week that head coach Eric Morris is leaving for Oklahoma State at the end of the season.
Great Job Meredith Yeomans & the Team @ NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth for sharing this story.
