Is Missouri Sports Betting Legal?

Yes, sports betting is legal in Missouri and will go live on Monday, December 1st.

Missouri voters approved Amendment 2 in November 2024, legalizing both online and retail sports betting after years of debate over tax rates, video lottery terminals, and regulatory oversight.
While sports betting is legal, it is not live yet. Regulators have set the official launch date for December 1, 2025, and nine operators have already been granted licenses. Pre-registration is now open, allowing users to create accounts and secure welcome offers ahead of launch — but no wagers can be placed until sportsbooks officially go live.

Until then, Missourians still cannot legally bet online or in person within state lines, which is why many residents cross into Kansas, Illinois, and Iowa, where wagering is already active.

Daily fantasy sports remain legal and regulated in Missouri. Horse racing is authorized under state law, but because the state has no active tracks or approved online racebooks, there are currently no practical horse betting options available.

What Can You Bet on With Missouri Online Sportsbooks?

When Missouri sports betting goes live, bettors will have access to a wide range of sports and wagering markets. Major U.S. leagues will lead the way, but plenty of additional options are expected to be available.

NFL

The NFL is the most popular betting sport in America, and Missouri sportsbooks will offer full markets on every game. Fans can expect extensive options for the Kansas City Chiefs, including spreads, totals, player props, live bets, and futures.

NBA

Basketball’s fast pace and long season make it ideal for wagering, especially for parlays and player props. Missouri betting apps will offer markets on every NBA matchup plus additional options for international leagues.

MLB

With the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals representing the state, MLB betting will be a major attraction. Expect odds on every game, along with futures, player props, and live markets throughout the season.

NHL

Missouri bettors will be able to wager on the St. Louis Blues, with full markets available once betting launches. NHL wagering—including moneylines, totals, player props, and playoff futures—will be widely offered.

College Sports Betting in Missouri: Allowed With Some Restrictions

Missouri will allow betting on in-state college programs like the Missouri Tigers, but with one key restriction: player props involving Missouri-based schools will be prohibited. Team markets, spreads, totals, and futures will still be available.

Soccer MO Sports Betting

Soccer fans can expect odds on MLS clubs St. Louis City SC and Sporting KC, plus dozens of global leagues. With Kansas City hosting 2026 World Cup matches at Arrowhead Stadium, interest in soccer betting will be higher than ever.

Golf

Golf bettors will have access to PGA Tour, LIV Golf, and major championship markets. Look for outright winners, head-to-head matchups, live betting, and props during tournaments like The Masters, U.S. Open, and Ryder Cup.

eSports

If regulators approve eSports wagering, Missouri sportsbooks may offer markets on top titles such as League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Dota 2, and more. Availability will depend on final state guidelines.

Politics

Political betting is not permitted in any U.S. sports betting market. Missouri is expected to follow the same approach, keeping political wagering off the board.

Missouri Sports Teams to Bet On

Once Missouri sports betting launches, fans will have plenty of hometown teams to wager on across major leagues.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs will immediately become the state’s top betting draw. With multiple Super Bowl appearances in recent years, expect heavy action on weekly game lines, player props, and postseason futures.

St. Louis Cardinals

A historic franchise with a passionate fan base, the Cardinals remain a perennial playoff contender. The team’s partnership with bet365 means fans may see integrated branding at Busch Stadium and in team media outlets.

Kansas City Royals

While 2015 feels like a long time ago, the Royals are rebuilding around young star Bobby Witt Jr. Expect solid interest in game lines, player props, and futures as the team continues to develop.

St. Louis Blues

The Blues consistently contend for the postseason, making them a steady option for NHL bettors. Fans can expect full wagering menus for every regular-season and playoff game.

St. Louis City SC

MLS newcomer St. Louis City SC made an immediate splash with strong on-field performances and a surging fan base. Betting from your seat at CITYPARK will add extra excitement once wagering launches.

Sporting Kansas City

Sporting KC remains a staple of MLS in the region. While the team now plays across the border, its operations are based in Missouri, and it will remain a popular local option for soccer bettors.

Missouri Sports Betting Launch Date

Missouri’s official sports betting launch date is December 1, 2025, when licensed online sportsbooks are scheduled to go live statewide. Pre-registration opened on November 17, giving fans a head start to create accounts, make deposits, and secure welcome bonuses before wagering begins.

Missouri Sports Betting Preregistration Now Open

Missouri sports betting preregistration is officially open, giving fans a head start before the state’s full online launch on Dec. 1, 2025. New users can now download participating sportsbook apps, set up their accounts and lock in early sign-up perks ahead of opening day. While wagering won’t begin until the state flips the switch in December, this preregistration window lets bettors secure their spot, claim welcome offers in advance and be ready to place bets the moment Missouri goes live.
