Woman found dead in residence near Legacy West shopping center in Plano, police say

The woman was found by officers after a welfare call off Water Street, police say.

PLANO, Texas — Police are launching a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead near a popular Collin County shopping center.

According to the Plano Police Department, officers responded to a welfare call at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday at a residence in the 6000 block of Water Street, not far from the Legacy West shopping center. 

The caller reported that a woman inside the residence may be injured.

Police said that, upon arrival, officers found a woman, whom personnel with Plano Fire-Rescue then determined was deceased. 

Nobody else was found inside the residence, the department stated.

Plano PD said they will hold a press conference about the investigation on Wednesday evening. WFAA has a crew en route to the scene.
