The Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City is hosting its 2nd Annual Back to School Community Cookout and Backpack Giveaway on Aug. 30 from 12 to 4 p.m.

The free event will take place at 1400 E. North Ave. in the rear parking lot, where, in addition to free food and the backpack giveaway, children can get a haircut.
“As Baltimore’s young people prepare to head back to school, it is crucial that they have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond,” said Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan J. Bates in a statement to the AFRO.
The day will also feature special guest performances by Bro. Calvin and the UnDoOver Tour, DJ Boogie, A Brush of Art Dance Team and Erricka Bridgeford from the Baltimore Peace Movement.
“I am extremely grateful to our community partners, supporters and especially the staff at the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City, who gave selflessly to help make this event possible,” said Bates. “I wish all of Baltimore’s students and families a safe, productive and inspiring school year.”
