FORNEY, Texas — Warehouse club chain BJ’s Wholesale Club broke ground Wednesday for its store coming to Forney, the city said on Facebook.
It’s one of four BJ’s locations coming to North Texas, according to WFAA’s media partners at the Dallas Business Journal.
The Forney store will be located at U.S. Highway 80 and Gateway Boulevard within the Villages at Gateway development – which will feature hundreds of thousands of square feet of stores, including a Target and an H-E-B – and is estimated to be completed in January 2026, DBJ reported.
BJ’s operates more than 255 clubs in 21 states and employs more than 25,000 people nationwide. Texas will be the 22nd state with BJ’s clubs, a company spokesperson told WFAA via email.
BJ’s Wholesale Club Holdings Inc. reported net sales of $19.5 billion in its 2023 fiscal year, which ended in February 2024, up 3% from $18.1 billion in the same period a year prior.
The estimated construction cost for each store, including the Forney location, is $9.5 million, according to the state filings reported by the DBJ.
Forney is also making progress on its Costco store coming to U.S. 80 and Clements Drive, which is expected to be finished by late 2026.
