From postpartum fog to millions in sales, Balacia CEO Jasmine Carter opens up about building a faith-driven luxury brand through diamonds, prayers, and passion.
Nationwide — Jasmine Carter is known to many as “The Engagement Ring Queen,” but behind that crown is a woman of vision, vulnerability, and Christian values. When you meet her, you see a thriving CEO whose jewelry brand, Balacia, has quietly carved out a reputation for excellence, worn by icons, celebrated at award shows, and loved by everyday clients who trust her with life’s biggest moments. What you don’t see at first glance is the valley she walked through to get here.
This isn’t a story of overnight success—it’s one of obedience. A mother. A maker. A woman who chose to trust God’s promises while building an empire from scratch.
In the following interview, she reveals what it really looked like to build an iconic brand while navigating postpartum with two newborns in two years, and how faith became the thread holding it all together.
Q: Did you ever think you could be a mom and CEO at the same time?
A: I always envisioned living my dream and growing my company before starting a family. When COVID started, we felt like it was God’s timing to try for a baby. I worked through morning sickness, burnout, and then postpartum recovery while building the business of my dreams. It was extremely hard, yet my husband supported me and the business every day, and clients patiently waited for us to finish their designs.
Q: Did you worry that postpartum depression would break your spirit or your momentum?
A: I was terrified and couldn’t believe how challenging it was. I always dreamt of being a mother. On one hand, it was a dream come true, but the hormones, the midnight wakeups to breastfeed, the recovery to my body, the expectations—it was all harder than I ever imagined. I couldn’t have done it without the grace of God and my husband’s support.
Q: How did building a business help your healing?
A: Building my brand is a huge part of my healing. Designing my own collections is everything I dreamt of. Getting amazing reviews from my clients is the cherry on top. Bringing someone’s vision to life is so fulfilling. It’s the best feeling when I get a random message from someone saying they were referred to me by a client who loves their jewelry.
Q: What was your lowest moment?
A: Some days, I was so exhausted from nursing, not making enough milk, supplementing, pumping, taking care of my toddler, and trying to respond to clients in a timely manner. My husband helped a lot, but I was so emotional from hormones, and constantly feeling like I couldn’t do enough. My friends and family told me to rest, but I felt like I had to keep pushing to bring my dream to life. My lows were low, but they brought me closer to God than I had ever been. I had to learn to rest and have faith. I used to work 7 days a week, but now I take Sundays off to go to church and enjoy my family. I also exercise often and eat healthier now, which has been a game-changer for my mental clarity.
Q: How did your faith shape your brand?
A: Faith shows up in how I serve. Balacia is about creating something meaningful, not just beautiful. Every piece is art, and art is subjective. The client’s stories, their intention, their choice of stone and metal—it’s all deeply personal. My role is to listen, to honor their vision, and to design with purpose. Whether it’s a reminder of love, legacy, or faith, I believe God uses those quiet details to speak. I just do my part and let the meaning come through.
Q: What’s your advice to new mothers who feel like they’re losing themselves?
A: Focus on your mental health and recovery. The world will shout “do more”—but God says “Be still.” You’re not behind. Take care of yourself. Find what works for this new you. If you’re in postpartum fog right now, know this: you are His masterpiece in progress. Finding a church home that was a perfect fit for me and maturing in my faith helped me so much. My husband and I recently got baptized together. If you haven’t found a good church home for you, keep looking!
Q: What keeps you going now that Balacia is growing?
A: Our clients. Every message, every order, every story someone shares with me—it brings me joy to serve them. We don’t take a single client for granted. I do the best I can and let God guide me.
Q: What can we look forward to seeing from you in the near future?
A: I’m praying for expansion—major retail partnerships, paying off our business loans, and building a meaningful, faith-centered collaboration with a celebrity or influencer who shares that same heart. More than anything, I’m trusting God’s timing. I’m planting seeds and staying obedient, knowing that whatever comes next will be right on time.
