Broadmead, Inc., a Quaker-founded Life Plan Community and a leading senior living provider in Baltimore County announces a historic milestone: the acquisition of five contiguous properties in Sparks, Md., and the development of Broadmead at Ridgebrook, the organization’s first off-site campus expansion.
Located less than three miles north of Broadmead’s current campus, the Sparks site (901, 910, 920, 930, and 934 Ridgebrook Road) spans 60 developed and landscaped acres and includes three mid-rise office buildings totaling over 221,000 square feet. These interconnected buildings will be thoughtfully transformed into 80 spacious independent living residences complemented by expansive common areas, wellness spaces, dining venues and outdoor amenities — all designed to support a vibrant and connected lifestyle for older adults. These amenities, in addition to those on Broadmead’s existing campus, will be available and shared by residents on both campuses.

The expansion, pending approval by the Maryland Department of Aging, follows an extensive due diligence process including market and financial feasibility studies, architectural and engineering reviews, and planning that aligns with Broadmead’s commitment to sustainability and person-centered living. The result is a bold, visionary project that will expand Broadmead’s capacity while preserving its values and excellence in aging services.

Established in 1979, Broadmead (broadmead.org) is a not-for-profit Quaker-founded Life Plan Community with a long history of serving seniors in the Baltimore region. The current sprawling 94-acre campus offers a full continuum of living options including Garden Homes, Hillside Homes, Taylor Assisted Living, Darlington Assisted Living, Hallowell Long-Term Care and Douglass Subacute Rehab Center. It is also home to the Centers of Excellence in Dementia Care and Health and Wellness.
