Cardi B Hits Out At Jealousy From Other Female Rappers – HipHopDX

Cardi B has hit out at being on the wrong end of jealousy from other female rappers.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music, Cardi addressed her standing in the rap game and the reactions she receives from some of her contemporaries.

He said: “For some reason, it’s something about me that these bitches can’t stand.

“They can’t fuck with me. Some bitches, I feel like they’re on this class right now, they’re sophomores, and I’m a senior. And it’s like you want to fuck with the senior so bad. You think you’re here with the senior. You’re not even a junior.”

She added: “And it’s like you need to worry about them other sophomores before you start worrying about here, the fucking senior. But it’s something about it that it’s like they can’t even focus on them. They got to focus on me. And they always got to focus on throwing me shots and throwing me slings. No matter if you’re a fucking sophomore or in motherfucking college, it’s me.”

Cardi recently received some criticism for her sampling of JAY-Z’s “Imaginary Players” on her new song.

On his podcast, Joe Budden said: “She shouldn’t do that again. Don’t take any East Coast top three, four rapper beat, classic song, and redo that. We gonna shout out the writers. The writers killed. This is not about the writers. The bars are there. That wasn’t enough.”

The former Slaughterhouse rapper added: “That delivery, those punch-ins, how choppy that was … ‘Imaginary Players,’ for y’all that wasn’t there, Hov, when that dropped, was a much better rapper than that.

“It was just fly because of the cadence and the flow and what he was saying, his aura and voice control. Cardi is in the same pitch, same tone, sounding choppy, not smooth. Bars are there, but this is not the beat for that.”

She hit back by saying: “For people to dog pile on me over one song. And when it comes to dog piling, it’s not even just like, ‘Oh well, I don’t like this song,’ because if you don’t like this song, fine, but to come at the way I speak, to make narratives of how I think I am and who the fuck I think I am, to talk about every single piece of me, to bet on my downfall is crazy.”
