Houston held its 75th annual Thanksgiving Day parade on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024.

Crisp fall weather will be the backdrop for Houston’s 76th annual Thanksgiving Day parade, which is open to the public and free to attend.

Sunny skies and cool temperatures are in the forecast for Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. When the downtown parade starts at 9 a.m., temperatures in Houston are expected to be in the low- to mid-50s.

The city’s Thanksgiving Day forecast calls for a high of 64 degrees Fahrenheit and a nighttime low of 49 degrees, along with a northeast wind between 5-10 mph.

The City of Houston announced in October that the annual Thanksgiving parade, sponsored by Texas grocery store chain H-E-B, will include a lineup of new parade floats. They include a tribute to Houston artist David Adickes, who died in July at age 98, along with a 2026 FIFA World Cup float as the city is set to host seven matches next summer as part of the international soccer tournament.

Musical performances are expected from soul singer Kam Franklin, Christian music singer Danny Gokey and country singer Payton Howie. The grand marshals will be the mascots of four of Houston’s professional sports teams – the Astros, Rockets, Texans and Houston Dynamo FC.
