A 53-year-old man was arrested and charged with dog fighting, Dallas police said in a press release.
DALLAS — A 53-year-old man was arrested and charged with dog fighting after officials rescued eight dogs in southeast Dallas.
On July 18, an animal cruelty investigation led detectives to three properties in southeast Dallas where they executed search warrants and seized evidence of dog fighting, the release states.
Eight dogs were rescued from the properties with the help of Operation Kindness, the release states. The dogs were cruelly confined and neglected, according to the release. Four puppies required immediate medical care.
Police arrested and charged 53-year-old Gerald Brooks with five counts of dog fighting, a class A misdemeanor, police said.
“These dogs were rescued from an incredibly cruel environment. said Teena Schultz, assistant chief with the Dallas Police Department. Our animal cruelty investigations benefit from a strong partnership with Dallas Animal Services and Operation Kindness, and we aggressively pursue justice for those who intentionally mistreat animals.”
