Dallas police officer arrested on assault charge; four other DPD employees terminated in disciplinary hearings

Senior Corporal Scott Jay was arrested for assault, while four Dallas Police employees were terminated after disciplinary hearings.

DALLAS — A veteran Dallas police officer has been arrested and placed on administrative leave, and four other department employees have been terminated following disciplinary hearings, the Dallas Police Department announced.

Senior Corporal Scott Jay turned himself in to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department on July 30 in connection with a warrant issued for aggravated assault – bodily injury, a second-degree felony, DPD said.

Jay has been a member of the department since September 1997 and is currently assigned to the Canine Unit, DPD said. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

In separate disciplinary actions, Police Dispatch Analyst Kenyon Campbell was terminated after causing a disturbance in the workplace. Campbell had served in the communications division since April 2008.

Also terminated on July 30 was Police Officer Jason Brower of the Auto Pound Unit. According to DPD, Brower failed to complete required training courses by their deadlines and showed an indifference toward work, including loafing, sleeping, inattention, and leaving his workstation. He had been with the department since September 2001.

On July 31, two more DPD employees were fired after disciplinary hearings with Chief Daniel Comeaux.

Joseph Robeson was terminated for taking evidence from a crime scene without authorization, engaging in adverse conduct when he was arrested for tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair, a third-degree felony, failing to fully investigate a shooting incident, violating the off-duty employment policy, and giving untruthful statements during an investigation.

Robeson was a senior corporal in the Community Operations Division and had been with the department since June 2009.

Officer Elijah Walker was also fired Thursday. His termination stems from a DWI arrest in June. Walker was placed on administrative leave last month after being arrested for driving while intoxicated by the Euless Police Department. He had been with Dallas PD since March 2023.
