Amid the ongoing fierce AI poaching by Meta AI, with several OpenAI talents seized by the Mark Zuckerberg company, a deepfake clip went viral depicting a classic duel scene from The Matrix (1999). The bout between Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving) and Neo (Keanu Reeves) was the first interaction between the bot created by machines versus ‘The One,’ the messiah of mankind. In the deepfake recreation, the roles are shared between OpenAI co-founder and CEO Sam Altman and Meta (formerly Facebook) co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The AI video shows Zuckerberg as Neo and Altman as Agent Smith.
The video starts with Zuck taking a jab at Altman, who seems startled at the latter’s prowess. It recreates the famous scene from the movie, where Agent Smith smashes through the wall, while Neo deflects the punches in his more heightened digital conscience while plugged into the Matrix. In the next scene in the video, Zuck kicks Altman, smashing his glasses, which the latter mockingly adjusts and quips, “Stop stealing my people, Mr. Zuckerberg.” He proceeds to return the kick as Zuck is flung to the concrete wall.
The video ends with Zuck pulling off a martial arts move, inviting Altman for another jab.
In their disclaimer, the content creator stated why they picked Sam Altman as Agent Smith and Mark Zuckerberg to portray Neo, despite not viewing any of them as antagonists.
We deeply respect both leaders and their impact on humanity. But someone had to play Agent Smith.”
Sam, we don’t see you as a supervillain — in today’s world, you’ve simply become synonymous with “AI”, and someone had to step into that role for this piece to happen.”
Mark, we know how you love martial arts and once dressed as John Wick for Halloween… and honestly, who wouldn’t want to be Neo?”

We made this fight because we love The Matrix.
It’s probably the greatest film in history about AI. And it’s simply beautiful.
