Deepinder Goyal Announces Zomato Healthy Mode For Health Conscious Foodies; Internet Says ‘Cook At Home’

Deepinder Goyal announced a new feature on the Zomato app stating how, “For years, there’s been something about Zomato that made me uneasy.” Explaining his dilemma while also blaming the inefficacy of the platform regarding a common user problem, he quipped,

We made eating out and ordering in easier than ever, but we never really helped people truly eat better. Yes, you could find a salad or a smoothie bowl, but the truth is, if you wanted to eat genuinely nourishing food, Zomato didn’t make it easy.”

He adds,

That weighed on me, because when we say our mission is “better food for more people”, the “better” has to mean something deeper.”

Goyal further announced,

Today, we’ve taken one of the biggest steps in fixing that blind spot. We’re launching Healthy Mode on Zomato.”

So what exactly does this mode offer? Goyal remarks,

Every dish in this mode now comes with a Healthy Score—from Low to Super—based on what really counts for your health: protein, complex carbs, fibre, and micronutrients, and not just calories.

What’s fueling this new future? The billionaire states,

Behind the scenes it’s AI and restaurant data doing the heavy lifting, but what you’ll see is simple: a clear explanation of what makes a dish healthy, and why.

Goyal claims that the Healthy Mode is made for pros and not the usual gimmick. He writes,

This is not your run of the mill “healthy mode” for beginners. We have kept the bar very high, that professional athletes can rely on healthy mode to find food that works for them.

Zomato’s Healthy Mode is currently live in Gurgaon and will soon launch nationwide.

Reactions poured in. One user suggested, “Please do self inspection of your Zomato partners. Many unhygienic cloud kitchens and sub standard raw materials like oil are used to cut costs. I want Zomato and other aggregators to do self certifications as per proper standards and post it online”

Another user tagged the FSSAII, stating that the regulatory agency “needs to ensure the restaurants truly mean the nutrition information that they claim. If this doesn’t happen, soon all restaurants will start mis-selling protein.”

A third user requested, “Much much much needed in Bangalore.

Yet another user jibed, “ My step to eating healthy and nourishing food is not ordering from Swiggy and Zomato, rather cook at home.”
