Diddy has submitted a new bid to get released from jail ahead of his sentencing after being found guilty of engaging in transportation for prostitution.
The rap mogul has asked the judge to release him on a $50 million bond and pointed out that others convicted of similar offences are typically released ahead of sentencing.
In a filing, Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo said: “Sean Combs should not be in jail for this conduct. In fact, he may be the only person currently in a United States jail for being any sort of John, and certainly the only person in jail for hiring adult male escorts for him and his girlfriend.”
Diddy was previously denied bail after being cleared of the most serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Judge Arun Subramanian who cited the record executive’s history of violent behavior turned down the bail bid citing Diddy’s record of violent behavior.
Sentencing is currently scheduled for October 3.
In the aftermath of the verdict, Cassie filed a letter to the court arguing that Diddy posed a danger to the community if he was allowed out on bail.
Her attorney Douglas Wigdor wrote: “Ms Ventura believes that Mr Combs is likely to pose a danger to the victims who testified in this case, including herself, as well as to the community.”
After the judge made the decision to refuse Diddy bail, the rapper and producer could be heard saying to his family: “I’ll see you when I get out. We’re going to get through this.”
Diddy continues to face countless civil lawsuits from both men and women accusing him of sexual assault. He has repeatedly and vehemently denied any and all accusations of sexual misconduct.
It was also recently revealed that Diddy had made the decision to enter rehab again with the program seeking to prevent domestic violence.
The music mogul has also enrolled in a separate drug abuse program with the trial revealing the extent of Diddy’s drug abuse as well as numerous accounts of violence towards women.
It is not uncommon for convicts to enter programs in a bid to reduce their sentencing.
