Donate now: TEGNA Texas Flood Relief Fund to support flood recovery in Central Texas

TEGNA’s local news properties across Texas are joining forces to raise money for the Kerr County and surrounding areas hit by flash floods

KERRVILLE, Texas — In the wake of deadly flash floods across central Texas, WFAA’s parent company, TEGNA, announced the creation of the TEGNA Texas Flood Relief Fund.

The fund, which is accepting donations now, will raise dollars to support the ongoing and long-term response to the flash floods that began on July 4 in and around Kerr County, Texas. Several non-profit organizations are working around the clock to provide support to first responders, residents, and families impacted by floods.

As of July 7, 82 people are confirmed dead. 41 people remain unaccounted for, according to state officials. In Kerr County, 75 bodies have been recovered as of Monday morning. Camp Mystic, a summer sleepaway camp for girls, lost 27 campers and counselors when catastrophic flooding caused the Guadalupe River to rush out of its banks.

Flash floods also impacted areas in the northern Hill Country near Austin. The scope of damage to property is not yet known as authorities remain in search, rescue, and recovery mode.

The TEGNA Texas Flood Relief Fund is supported by TEGNA-owned stations across the state including:

  • WFAA/KFAA, Dallas-Fort Worth
  • KHOU, Houston
  • KENS, San Antonio
  • KVUE, Austin
  • KYTX, Tyler
  • KIII, Corpus Christi,
  • KBMT/KJAC, Beaumont
  • KCEN, Waco
  • KAGS, College Station
  • KWES, Midland-Odessa
  • KXVA/KIDY, Abilene-San Angelo
