Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Frisco celebrated its opening with the birth of twins, marking its first newborns.
FRISCO, Texas — A brand-new hospital and a brand-new pair of Texans — now that’s a debut to remember.
Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Frisco at PGA Parkway had more than just a ribbon-cutting to celebrate this week. After officially opening on Tuesday, the hospital welcomed its very first newborns, and not just one, but a pair of twins!
“I called PGA and said, ‘Hey, I know you opened yesterday, but are you open open because we are 33 weeks with twins and her water broke,” laughed dad James Ronan.
Sure enough, the answer was yes, and just two days later, on Thursday, July 24, the twins made their big debut. First came a baby boy at 7:46 a.m., weighing 5 pounds, 2 ounces, followed by his sister at 7:55 a.m., tipping the scales at 6 pounds, 1 ounce.
The proud parents, James Ronan and Lanya Maso of Princeton, say they couldn’t be happier to welcome their little duo into the world and into the history books of the hospital.
“Some of the nurses were joking about how everyone wanted to come meet the babies,” Lanya said. “They’re like little rockstars.”
For the hospital team, this joyful occasion marks a milestone worth celebrating.
“The twins are doing really well. The parents are doing really well,” said Chair of Women and Infants, Naima Bridges.
In January, Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest nonprofit hospital system in Texas, announced their plan to develop a new medical center in Frisco, following a rapid increase in population over the last decade. BSW purchased the land for the development from Jerry Jones’ Blue Star Land in 2021 and the property was rezoned in 2022.
“I’m really proud of our team,” Bridges said. “We wouldn’t have been able to have a seamless delivery, uncomplicated for twins at 33 weeks without such an amazing team that works together.”
