Electrical car catches fire at North Texas home, causes major damage

Aerial footage showed extensive damage, including an electrical vehicle completely charred and structural damage to the roof and garage area of the home.

LEWISVILLE, Texas — Firefighters pulled a charred electric vehicle from a Lewisville home after it caught fire Monday afternoon, according to fire officials.

The fire began at about 12:30 p.m. at a residence in the 300 block of Meadowview Way, the Lewisville Fire Department confirmed. A short time later, firefighters had the flames under control, though crews are still on scene watching for hot spots.

Aerial footage from WFAA’s Chopper 8 showed extensive damage, including an electrical vehicle completely charred and structural damage to the roof and garage area of the home.

Investigators believe the charging port for the electrical vehicle is what ignited the fire. But the exact cause has not been determined.

No injuries were reported, authorities said.

This is a developing story. WFAA will provide updates once it becomes available.
