Erykah Badu Announces ‘Mama’s Gun’ 25th Anniversary Tour Dates

Erykah Badu will celebrate the 25th anniversary of her sophomore album, Mama’s Gun, on tour. The iconic singer has unveiled the dates for The Return of Automatic Slim Tour: eryKah Badu Mama’s Gun ’25.

The North American leg kicks off Oct. 3 at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. From there, Badu will visit Las Vegas, Boston, Detroit, Atlanta, Houston and more.

She will conclude the tour in her hometown, Dallas, on Dec. 10 at the Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory. European dates will be announced soon.

Tickets go on sale Friday (Aug. 1) at 10 a.m. ET.

Mama’s Gun was released Nov. 21, 2000, via Motown Records. It debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum by the RIAA within a month of its release for selling over one million copies in the U.S.

Mama’s Gun included the Grammy-nominated single “Bag Lady,” which peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her first top 10 hit on the chart. “Bag Lady” also spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks.

The album also included the singles “Didn’t Cha Know?” and “Cleva.” 

In other news, Badu and The Alchemist released their new collaboration “Next To You” in June. The psychedelic soul track is the first offering from their upcoming joint album, which will be released under Badu’s new imprint Control Freaq Records and EMPIRE.
