ARLINGTON, Texas — A fatal crash shut down southbound lanes near a major interchange in Arlington on Friday morning, police said.

A crash was reported in the southbound lanes of State Highway 360 near Interstate 30, according to a police update around 6 a.m. Police said the crash was fatal but more details were not released.

The crash was heavily backing up traffic on southbound 360 and as drivers exited onto the highway from I-30. Southbound 360 and the exit from westbound I-30 to 360 were closed. Traffic along 360 was being diverted onto Avenue J. 

The closure was expected to last through the morning commute hours.
