Fort Bend County Pride to host second annual festival | Houston Public Media

Fort Bend County Pride will host its second annual festival on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025, at the county fairgrounds.

Last year, nearly 1,000 people attended Fort Bend County’s first Pride festival.

The event celebrating the LGBTQ+ community and its allies returns to the county fairgrounds this Sunday.

LaToya “Hunny” Phillips, the founder of Fort Bend County Pride, said this year’s theme is “Superheroes of Pride.”

“We want everybody to come dressed up as their favorite superhero or LGBT icon,” she said.

The event will include local vendors, games, bounce houses, a reptile petting zoo and representatives from the Texas Renaissance Festival.

“We just wanted to be diverse and inclusive to all,” Phillips said.

Organizers said they wanted to create an opportunity for LGBTQ residents to celebrate locally, without having to drive into Houston.

“Members of the LGBTQ community, of which there are tens of thousands living in Fort Bend, have had to drive either an hour to Montrose or two-and-a-half hours to Austin just to feel like they had a sense of community,” said Chris Pino, the director of community engagement for Fort Bend County Pride.

Growing up, Pino said he often felt “alienated” as a young gay kid. He said he wanted to create a space where LGBTQ people can feel welcomed.

“The reason why I do this – and I think the reason why we do this – is in service to all of the gay kids growing up in Fort Bend County right now,” Pino said. “All of the gay adults, all of the gay elders, who feel like they don’t belong, who feel like they don’t have a place in this community.”

The event will run from noon-6 p.m. Sunday at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds, 4310 TX-36 S in Rosenberg. All activities will take place indoors.
