Fort Worth driver critically injured after shooting, crash on East Berry Street, police say

A gunshot critically injured a driver in Fort Worth, leading to a crash, police said.

FORT WORTH, Texas — A person was critically injured Monday afternoon after being shot while driving a sedan that later crashed into a light pole in Fort Worth, police said.

Officers responded around 2:51 p.m. to the 4600 block of East Berry Street, where they found the driver suffering from a gunshot wound. They were taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to Fort Worth police.

Investigators believe the victim and two people in a large pickup truck got into an altercation near a convenience store. Police said after both parties left the store, at least one shot was fired at the sedan, hitting the driver.

The department said Fort Worth’s Real Time Crime Center identified the pickup, and officers detained both occupants for questioning. The investigation is ongoing.
