For 19 years, Riscky’s Barbecue has hosted a rib-eating contest in the Fort Worth Stockyards. For eight of those years, Richard Cofsky has been the champion.
FORT WORTH, Texas — North Texas, you have a new rib-eating champion.
Saturday, Riscky’s Barbecue hosted its 19th annual Rib-Eating Competition in the Fort Worth Stockyards, and for the 8th time, Richard Cofsky won.
Cofsky faced off against 29 other contestants, ages ranging from 6 to 60+, each having just one minute to scarf down as many beef ribs as possible.
Ben Coylle placed second, and Kim, who did not give a last name, placed third, both taking home $250 and $100 gift cards, respectively. But it was Cofsky who took home the grand prize: a $500 gift card to the barbecue joint.

Cofsky is no stranger to the rib-eating game. The veteran has been undefeated at Riscky’s for the better half of a decade now, cementing himself as the GOAT of eating BBQ. Cofsky has only missed one year of the competition in 2023, when he was in an accident and lost his leg. Since his return in 2024, he’s a back-to-back champ.
Here’s a look at his win last year:
