Founder of Whites Only Community Group Escalates National Security Concerns

Nationwide — Return to the Land (RTTL), led by Eric Orwoll, surfaced in the news around the world at the end of June 2025 for its explicit promotion of a whites-only segregationist community in Ravenden, Arkansas, openly banning Black, Jewish, Muslim, and Hindu prospects from participating in home purchases. While RTTL now promotes itself on social media as a peaceful community focused on traditional values and white heritage, its actions and digital footprint tell a far more troubling story. The organization’s website states: “We will promote strong families with common ancestry, and raise the next generation in an environment that reflects our traditional values.” These statements, when viewed alongside recent investigations, social media activity, and public rhetoric, raise urgent national security concerns regarding the true activities and underlying ideology of Orwoll and RTTL.

Eric Orwoll, co-founder of RTTL, has been documented making alarming statements that praise apartheid, a system of institutionalized racial segregation and discrimination that existed in South Africa from 1948 until the early 1990s. Apartheid enforced strict racial hierarchies, denying black South Africans basic human rights, including access to education, healthcare, and political participation, and resulted in widespread violence and oppression. Orwoll has also expressed admiration for the Ku Klux Klan (KKK), a white supremacist group known for its history of violence against African Americans, Jews, and other minorities. In a tweet, Orwoll stated, “If it turned out to be impossible to have sovereign ethnostates—then a system like apartheid would be the best we could do,” indicating a willingness to endorse discriminatory practices if his ideal of racial separation cannot be achieved.

During a radio space on X on July 4, 2025, Orwoll outlined a step-by-step plan for expansion, stating, “First—get a neighborhood. Then, get a town. Then get a city. Then get a network of cities. Then maybe think about the country.” This ambition is compounded by the actions of Peter Csere, RTTL’s second-in-command, who faces pending charges in Ecuador for alleged financial fraud and violence. Csere has preached eliminationist rhetoric, praising Nazis and claiming, “no Jew is innocent,” while posting tweets that dehumanize Black people.

These statements align with the dangerous ideologies promoted by Thomas Rousseau, founder of the fascist group Patriot Front, and Thomas Sewell, a convicted neo-Nazi. Both men are part of an international extremist network linked to RTTL. Orwoll is in regular contact with both Rousseau and Sewell and publicly thanked them for their involvement in RTTL’s virtual conference held in June 2025. Sources indicate that Orwoll has worked out at Rousseau’s private gym in Texas during multiple visits. Rousseau was previously arrested in Texas on a Virginia warrant for burning an object with the intent to intimidate, linked to the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville. Sewell, meanwhile, is known for radicalizing Brenton Tarrant, the perpetrator of the 2019 Christchurch mosque shootings in New Zealand, which resulted in 51 deaths. Together, this transnational alliance raises grave concerns about RTTL’s role in advancing violent white supremacist ideology across borders.

Further exacerbating these concerns is Raven Resolve, who joined RTTL on July 4, 2025, and has declared, “Russia is not my enemy—the American Government is,” and “RTTL is building nationwide armies of future warriors.” Resolve has also stated, “There will never be a white country until you remove all Jews,” rhetoric that mirrors the eliminationist statements of Lucas Gage, a close friend of Orwoll and an active promoter of the RTTL, who has said, “Jews are Satanic – Jews are the alien hostile force. Jews do not belong here. It’s the Jewish problem, and that’s why Jews ARE the problem, and have to be dealt with accordingly.” Even Orwoll’s former spouse, Caitlin Orwoll, a mother of his four children and a resident of the community, has celebrated the anniversary of the publication of Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler’s manifesto, further entrenching the community’s extremist leanings.

The threats extend beyond rhetoric. Followers of RTTL have harassed and threatened Jewish journalists, with statements such as, “There is absolutely no place for anything like ‘civil rights’ in a free society. It’s the 1930s in the 2030s. It’s going to be real this time. Can’t wait to have you turn and face your stupid wall. You should have left us alone.” Another follower warned, “Might be a good idea not to wait for the last train to leave the US.” These threats are particularly alarming given RTTL’s repeated mentions in the news for openly excluding people from land and home purchases at their Ravenden, Arkansas, development in Sharp County, advertising segregation despite condemnation from every major civil rights group.

Despite these actions, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Assistant U.S. Attorney Shannon Smith, and Attorney General Tim Griffin have largely ignored the issue. Griffin stated that preliminary findings found no wrongdoing, a stance that contrasts sharply with the concerns raised by civil rights organizations and legal experts around the country. The normalization of hate speech, extremist ties, and the establishment of exclusionary communities can erode the fabric of democratic societies, leading to increased polarization and conflict.

Historical precedents illustrate the potential dangers of such rhetoric and actions. On April 19, 1995, Timothy McVeigh’s bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City resulted in the deaths of 168 people, including 19 children, and injured 684 others, demonstrating how a single individual can inflict widespread harm. Similarly, the September 11, 2001, attacks, carried out by 19 hijackers, led to nearly 3,000 deaths and had profound global repercussions, underscoring the capacity of a small group to destabilize national and international security. The combination of Orwoll’s leadership, his extremist rhetoric, and his network of like-minded individuals creates a volatile environment that could foster domestic extremism.

It is imperative that federal government officials, law enforcement and community leaders address these threats proactively. The safety and security of all citizens depend on a robust response to the dangers posed by Eric Orwoll, Lucas Gage, Peter Csere, Thomas Rousseau, Thomas Sewell, Raven Resolve, and Return to the Land.
