Texas residents who meet the financial aid requirements could be awarded financial assistance for tuition, food and housing, TCU announced.
FORT WORTH, Texas — Texas Christian University is expanding its aid initiative for Texas residents, covering the cost of tuition, food and housing for eligible students.
The TCU for Texas program aims to expand access to the University and make the private school more affordable to lower-income families, the University said in a press release.
TCU, located in Fort Worth, has increasingly attracted out-of-state students to its campus. Since 2018, more enrolled students have come from out-of-state than in-state, the Fort Worth Report found.
“As TCU continues to attract a student body from every state in the nation, we want Texan families to know they remain a bedrock at TCU,” said Heath Einstein, vice provost for enrollment management, in a press release. “Academically talented Texas students can have confidence that a TCU education is attainable, and we will be there every step of the way to ensure their success.”
The program will provide full tuition coverage, assistance for food and housing needs and renewable support while the student is enrolled, according to the university.
The program is open to incoming first-year Texas residents who are eligible for a Pell Grant and whose family’s adjusted gross income is $70,000 or less, the release states.
Priority is given to students who complete FAFSA or TAFSA and CSS profile by Nov. 1, the school said.
“TCU for Texans opens our doors to the state’s best and brightest students who may have once considered a TCU education out of reach,” Chancellor Daniel W. Pullin said in a release.
Students who receive financial aid can maintain their eligibility by filing the FAFSA annually, maintaining satisfactory academic progress and remaining enrolled as a full-time student.
