Galaxy Z Tri-Fold To Support Triple-App Multitasking

Samsung has been at the forefront of foldable smartphones, and now the company is reportedly preparing to take the next big leap with its first tri-fold smartphone. Rumored to be called the Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold, the handset is expected to debut before the end of this year. While Samsung has not officially confirmed details, new leaks suggest that the upcoming device will feature enhanced multitasking capabilities powered by One UI 8 firmware.

Samsung Galaxy Z Tri-Fold Features

According to a report, the Galaxy Z Tri-Fold will leverage its expansive display to allow users to run up to three apps simultaneously on the main screen. Unlike traditional multitasking where two apps are split on the display, this device could divide the screen into three panels, offering a productivity-focused experience.

Another highlight feature may be the ability to save a “split trio” of apps on the home screen, edge panel, or taskbar. This feature is expected to function similarly to App Pair found on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which currently allows two apps to be launched together for multitasking. On the Z Tri-Fold, however, users could group three apps and access them instantly.

Reports also suggest that these apps can be arranged either vertically or horizontally, giving users flexibility based on workflow or preference. For example, one app could run across the top half of the screen, while two others could be stacked below, or all three could be aligned side by side.

Enhanced Cover Screen Mirroring

Another significant upgrade could be in the cover screen mirroring experience. On Samsung’s current foldable lineup, the feature mirrors the cover display onto the main screen with support for two-page side-by-side views. With the Galaxy Z Tri-Fold, the feature is rumored to expand, enabling mirroring of three panels simultaneously. Leaks also point to a “smooth animation” toggle in the settings menu, which may enhance transitions between screens.

Competition and Expected Launch

If reports are accurate, Samsung could unveil the Galaxy Z Tri-Fold in October, positioning it as a direct competitor to Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate Design, which also features a tri-fold form factor.

Although official specifications remain under wraps, expectations are high that the Galaxy Z Tri-Fold will push the boundaries of multitasking, display innovation, and productivity features. By combining advanced firmware with new hardware design, Samsung may redefine what foldable smartphones can achieve.

With its rumored launch date approaching, the Galaxy Z Tri-Fold could become one of Samsung’s most talked-about releases of the year.
