Google is rolling out a new “AI Mode” button to its Chrome browser on iPhone and iPad, giving users quicker access to its advanced AI tools. Positioned right below the search bar next to the Incognito icon, the new button simplifies how users can interact with Google’s AI features, bringing the mobile experience closer to the desktop version and eliminating the need to navigate through complex settings or menus.

Google’s new AI Mode button in Chrome gives users direct access to its Gemini-powered AI search tool, turning everyday browsing into a more conversational experience. Unlike standard searches, Gemini allows users to ask follow-up questions, interpret context, and refine queries naturally, ideal for research, travel planning, or troubleshooting. With this, Chrome transforms from a simple search engine into an intelligent assistant that can understand and respond conversationally.

According to Google, the goal of AI Mode is to bridge the gap between search and conversation, helping users discover information faster and more intuitively. Currently, the AI Mode button is available to users in the United States on iPhone, iPad, and Android, with global expansion planned soon. Google says the rollout will be gradual as it ensures data compliance across regions. The mode supports multi-step conversations and delivers summaries and related suggestions within a single thread, transforming each Chrome tab into a mini workspace for exploration.
Early testers describe the experience as smooth and responsive. When tapped, the AI Mode button opens a clean, chat-style interface that maintains context between queries and provides summarized insights with links to reliable sources. Instead of toggling between multiple searches or tabs, users can carry a continuous conversation with Chrome, making it particularly valuable for students, journalists, and professionals who rely on quick, organized information retrieval.
