Charli xcx is back in her influencer era, showing her fans and followers what she likes to watch on days when she’s not taking to the stage or the studio.

“Doing another what I watched. You’re welcome,” Charli began her almost five-minute video posted to her TikTok on Aug 13, giving fans a glimpse into her Letterboxd library. If you didn’t know, Letterboxd is an app used to rate/review and catalogue movies you’ve seen or want to see. The “Von Dutch” singer posted a similar video to her TikTok back in July and again in June, sharing her favorite or most notable watches of the month. As far as genres go, the singer tends to gravitate towards horror, romance, comedy or mystery, oscillating between these genres in her round-ups.

We’re taking notes from Charli and showing you how to stream some of the performer’s favorite films of this month on platforms like Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. To access streaming these films, you’ll either need an Amazon Prime subscription, which is $14.99 per month, that will give you access to Prime Video or an Apple TV subscription, which will cost you $9.99 a month.

horror/comedy

2025 ‘Heart Eyes’ by Josh Ruben

A comedy/horror film about a killer that slaughters unsuspecting couples starring Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding and Jordana Brewster.

“Last time I did this on TikTok, I asked for recs. One of the films you guys recommended was Heart Eyes,” Charli said in her TikTok. The first entry in the video Heart Eyes is a comedy/horror centering around a killer who slaughters unsuspecting couples. “George and I watched it the night before we got married. It was, you know … silly,” the singer hilariously explained. Starring up-and-coming actors Olivia Holt, Mason Gooding and Jordana Brewster, the film is a bloody good time and can be rented on Amazon Prime Video for $5.99 or bought for $7.99 and streamed on Apple TV with a membership.

horror/romance

2008 ‘Let the Right One In’ by Tomas Alfredson

A 12-year-old boy who befriends a vampire starring Lina Leandersson and Kåre Hedebrant.

Let the Right One In is a good old-fashioned vampire film. The 2008 film follows a 12-year-old boy named Oskar who befriends a girl named Eli who turns out to be a vampire. It’s strangely heartwarming and one to watch if you like an indie horror vibe. “When I’m travelling, I love watching movies from the country that I’m in,” Charli explained in her TikTok. “I went to Sweden. I watched Let the Right One In. This is a film that I’ve been meaning to watch for years and years and years … It’s incredible. The kids made me cry. They’re amazing.” You can stream on Apple TV, rent on Amazon Prime Video for $3.79 or buy on the platform for $12.99.

romance/comedy

1998 ‘Show Me Love’ by Lukas Moodysson

A Swedish coming-of-age story between two schoolmates starring Rebecka Liljeberg and Alexandra Dahlström.

Another Swedish entry on Charli’s list is Show Me Love, the 1998 coming-of-age film about two schoolmates starring Rebecka Liljeberg and Alexandra Dahlström. The film’s protagonists, Elin and Agnes, foster a relationship with one another despite coming from very different backgrounds. “This was a Yung Lean rec. He’s got great taste,” Charli explained in her TikTok in reference to Swedish rapper. The film can be rented on Amazon Prime Video for $0.99, bought on the platform for $3.59 and streamed on Apple TV.

horror/sci-fi

2025 ‘M3GAN 2.0’ by Gerard Johnstone

A campy film sequel surrounding an A.I. robot named M3GAN starring Allison Williams and Jenna Davis.

This sequel follows the continued story of the murderous A.I. robot M3GAN and stars Allison Williams and Jenna Davis. The film is campy and gory, everything we, and Charli, love in a horror flick. You can rent the highly anticipated sequel on Amazon Prime Video for $19.99 or stream on Apple TV. You can also buy the film on Amazon Prime Video for $24.99.

horror/mystery

2011 ‘Scream 4’ by Wes Craven

A group of people are stalked by a masked assailant named Ghostface. Sequel starring Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin and Kristen Bell, among others.

Scream 4 by Wes Craven was released back in 2011 and includes a stacked cast of actors like Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin and Kristen Bell. Charli also included Scream 3 on her list, but we, like Charli, think that the fourth iteration in the series is better. “This is my favorite in the franchise. Fight me,” she boasted in her video. The film can be streamed with a membership to Apple TV and bought on Amazon Prime Video for $14.99.

Horror/Mystery

1963 ‘The Birds’ by Alfred Hitchcock

Birds begin to attack a small town starring Tippi Hedren and Rod Taylor.

Alfred Hitchcock’s 1968 classic The Birds made it on Charli’s list, starring Tippi Hedren and Rod Taylor. The horror-mystery flick takes place in a small town that is suddenly attacked by vicious birds. You can stream the classic on Apple TV with a subscription and rent it for $3.99 on Amazon Prime Video. If you’re a die-hard Hitchcock fan, you can also buy the movie on Amazon Prime Video for $14.99. “I watched The Birds whilst I had an MRI in L.A. because that’s the kind of thing that you can do in Los Angeles,” Charli lamented on her TikTok.

Horror/Mystery

1997 ‘Perfect Blue’ by Satoshi Kon

Animated horror film centered around a Japanese pop star starring Junko Iwao.

“I guess I was having a meta month because this anime, Perfect Blue, is exactly that,” Charli said in her TikTok recs. This is the first animated film on Charli’s latest list. The horror film centers on a Japanese pop star named Mima who is urged to quit singing to pursue an acting career. The film features numerous twists and turns and can be found to rent for $3.19 and buy it for $12.99 on Amazon Prime Video. You can also stream with a subscription to Apple TV.

Horror/Indie film

1999 ‘Cherry Falls’ by Geoffrey Wright

An indie slasher film set in a small town starring Brittany Murphy and Michael Biehn.

Another horror film to add to your lengthy list of Charli-approved films is Cherry Falls by Geoffrey Wright. The 1999 indie slasher film set in a small town stars Brittany Murphy and Michael Biehn. “Epic movie. Teen slasher. Just watch it,” Charli raved in her TikTok. “Brittany Murphy. Stunning.” You can stream this moody indie classic on Apple TV with a subscription, or you can rent it for $3.99 on Amazon Prime Video. You can also buy the film on Amazon Prime Video for $14.99.
