Let the Right One In is a good old-fashioned vampire film. The 2008 film follows a 12-year-old boy named Oskar who befriends a girl named Eli who turns out to be a vampire. It’s strangely heartwarming and one to watch if you like an indie horror vibe. “When I’m travelling, I love watching movies from the country that I’m in,” Charli explained in her TikTok. “I went to Sweden. I watched Let the Right One In. This is a film that I’ve been meaning to watch for years and years and years … It’s incredible. The kids made me cry. Another Swedish entry on Charli’s list is Show Me Love, the 1998 coming-of-age film about two schoolmates starring Rebecka Liljeberg and Alexandra Dahlström. The film’s protagonists, Elin and Agnes, foster a relationship with one another despite coming from very different backgrounds. “This was a Yung Lean rec. He’s got great taste,” Charli explained in her TikTok in reference to Swedish rapper. The film can be rented on Amazon Prime Video for $0.99, bought on the platform for $3.59 and streamed on Apple TV.

This sequel follows the continued story of the murderous A.I. robot M3GAN and stars Allison Williams and Jenna Davis. The film is campy and gory, everything we, and Charli, love in a horror flick. Scream 4 by Wes Craven was released back in 2011 and includes a stacked cast of actors like Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin and Kristen Bell. Charli also included Scream 3 on her list, but we, like Charli, think that the fourth iteration in the series is better. “This is my favorite in the franchise. Fight me,” she boasted in her video. Alfred Hitchcock’s 1968 classic The Birds made it on Charli’s list, starring Tippi Hedren and Rod Taylor. The horror-mystery flick takes place in a small town that is suddenly attacked by vicious birds. You can stream the classic on Apple TV with a subscription and rent it for $3.99 on Amazon Prime Video. If you’re a die-hard Hitchcock fan, you can also buy the movie on Amazon Prime Video for $14.99. “I watched The Birds whilst I had an MRI in L.A. because that’s the kind of thing that you can do in Los Angeles,” Charli lamented on her TikTok.

“I guess I was having a meta month because this anime, Perfect Blue, is exactly that,” Charli said in her TikTok recs. This is the first animated film on Charli’s latest list. The horror film centers on a Japanese pop star named Mima who is urged to quit singing to pursue an acting career. Another horror film to add to your lengthy list of Charli-approved films is Cherry Falls by Geoffrey Wright.
