As a fall bride myself, I’m sure it won’t surprise anyone when I say that weddings have been on the brain. I’m also in a phase of my life where I frequently attend weddings, which can quickly become expensive with long flights, pricey accommodations, and, of course, wedding guest dresses. I tapped my close girlfriends to see where they are nabbing fall wedding guest dresses without breaking the bank, and let me tell you: they did not disappoint. 

My friends recommend dresses from Azazie (hint: their wedding guest dresses are just as good as their bridesmaids dresses!), Astr the Label, and Amazon to find dresses that are under $100, but look like they cost triple the price. While some brands like Reformation may seem out of range, my friends said the sale section is the holy grail for finding affordable, event-worthy dresses. My personal favorite for a fall wedding is the Satin Asymmetrical Midi Dress, with its effortless look from the drapey satin, natural waist fit, and mock neckline. I find that layered tiers in the skirt are flattering on various body types, and the pleated texture keeps the chiffon dress from looking like a typical bridesmaid dress.

If you look across a sea of wedding guests, you’re more than likely to spot a few styles from Reformation. While the brand is certainly splurge-worthy, you can almost always find wedding guest dresses in its sale section, like this stunning scoop-neck midi dress on sale for just $90.

The base of the dress is black, but it’s adorned with beige and brown flowers throughout the fabric. It has subtle boning in the ribs and a drapey drop-waist skirt for a trendy yet sophisticated look. Burgundy is one of my favorite colors to wear to a fall wedding, which is why I love this midi dress from a collaboration between Bardot and Revolve. The sweetheart neckline and drapey A-line skirt give this dress a very romantic look, which is perfect for the cozy vibes of an autumn wedding. Best of all, it has side seam pockets so you can keep your phone on you to take photos throughout the night. On sale for 64 percent off, this $89 cocktail dress won’t be available for long.

Banana Republic Factory Chiffon Maxi Dress

Blue and pink hues can be very autumnal, especially when they’re a bit muted, like the three shades this chiffon maxi dress comes in. You can’t go wrong with either the berry pink, grey-blue, or maroon floral options, especially given the fact that the dress is double-lined, so you won’t have to worry about any wardrobe mishaps. The cowl neck and flounce hem offer a drapey, effortless look, and the straps are adjustable to get a comfortable neckline fit. Right now, the maxi dress is 50 percent off with an extra 20 percent off at checkout, which brings the total price down to just $64.

Prettygarden Smocked Tulle Midi Dress

I’m in the season of my life where back-to-back weddings are rampant, which can get expensive when you’re buying five or more dresses a year. The key to wearing a little black dress to a wedding is making sure it has dressy elements, like the sheer mesh sleeves, neckline, and simple yet sophisticated A-line skirt that this style has. Pair this mini dress with some comfortable heels for dancing, and you’ll fit right in at a fall wedding. At full price, this dress usually costs $138, but it’s marked down to $60 right now.

Ymduch Off-shoulder Evening Dress

If you’re heading to a black-tie wedding, I highly recommend this off-the-shoulder maxi dress. A gown is key for a more formal dress code, so the maxi length of this dress is exactly what you need. The asymmetrical one-shoulder top is very on-trend right now, and I’ve seen similar styles to this dress at weddings over the past few months. It’s form-fitting through the bodice and then the mermaid-style skirt flounces out below the knees. While you can’t go wrong with the black or burgundy shades, I also like the various shades of dark purple and navy, too.

Meshki Priya Slinky Ruched Halter Maxi Dress

I have two black-tie formal wedding guest dresses from Meshki, and I must say, they are the most comfortable gowns I’ve ever worn. My friend turned me onto the brand a few years ago since they make trendy dresses that don’t break the bank. This ruched halter maxi dress is tasteful and classy with the navy colorway, and it’s made with recycled polyester and elastane, so it has some stretch to it. This means you can sit, stand, and dance the night away in comfort, which is hard to come by in a gown these days. The $119 full price is already a steal, but with the extra discount, it brings the price down to $70—I would run to grab it before it’s gone. 

Show Me Your Mumu Claire Midi Dress

Square-neck midi dresses are my go-to style for dressier occasions since I find they look best on my petite 5-foot-3 frame.
