Indian Smartphone Market in Q2 2025

Counterpoint’s report suggests that India’s smartphone market saw a boom with an 8 percent year-on-year growth in Q2 2025 in comparison with Q2 2024 performance. The 33 percent contribution from the new launches in the mid and premium segment has helped the Indian smartphone market recover from a slump in Q1 2025.

Furthermore, the wholesale mobile market marked a significant growth as it recorded 18 percent in Q2 2025. The report also highlights that the ultra-premium smartphone segment with devices priced above Rs 45,000 has seen a growth of 37 percent and it has become the fastest growing price segment.

The trade-in programs introduced by brands such as Apple and Samsung led to this growth. The South Korean tech giant recorded a market share of 23 percent. Furthermore, the iPhone 16 was the most-shipped device primarily due to the extended EMI options, trade-in deals and promotions.

The Chinese smartphone brand VIVO topped the list in terms of volume and it was largely driven due to the brand’s Rs 10,000- Rs 15,000 price segment .

The made-in-India smartphone company Lava topped the list as the fastest-growing brand in the under Rs 10,000 segment as it recorded a year-on-year growth of 156 percent. Furthermore, Nothing’s shipments increased by 146 percent in Q2 2025.
