Literacy lessons for the youngest learners

Did you know that reading to a baby can affect their literacy as they grow?

The Cleveland Clinic reports that reading to babies can help with brain stimulation, their attention, focus, and even their memory.

Pediatricians agree that reading to young children helps with their vocabulary even before they can speak their first word, and while it seems early, it gets them ready for their first conversations.

That early success starts with adults, though.

They recommend reading to infants daily! It may be hard to believe, but babies get very engaged. They also recommend showing young children videos or cartoons that emphasize the alphabet in fun and interactive ways. That information sticks with kids to the point where it’s time to start learning how to read. As a child moves into Pre-K and kindergarten, those early lessons will help with literacy going forward.
