If you’ve ever opened a bottle of wine, only to end up not finishing it in time for consumption, Ron Yates has a Texas-centric solution. Today, the winemaker behind Ron Yates Wines and Spicewood Vineyards announces The Get Together, a new boxed wine sourced from statewide vineyards that lasts up to four weeks in the fridge.
The premium boxed red wine features a Bordeaux-style blend of cabernet sauvignon (49%), merlot (49%), and petit verdot (2%) from the Texas High Plains. Priced at $50, the 3-liter box is the equivalent of four bottles.
Shifting Trends
While boxed wine was once associated with raucous frat parties or river-floating adventures, the packaged beverage has been trending upward. According to the Wine Analytics Report, premium boxed wine sales were up nearly 9% in early 2025 compared to January 2024.
For many drinkers, especially Gen Z and millennials, a growing interest in value, sustainability, and moderation have made boxed wine more appealing than bottles.
“Really it’s been, ‘How do we get more people involved in wine and get more people access to wine?’” Yates says of the decision to create his own boxed wine. “And then you top it all off with, ‘Hey, this saves the environment and saves us money.’ It just makes sense.”
Prolonged Freshness
While wine in bottles will go bad in a matter of days, The Get Together stays fresh for weeks—so you don’t have to commit to a whole bottle at once.
“From the moment you break that seal and push that first glass out, you have three or four weeks where the wine’s going to stay good because we shoot a little argon into the bag, which prevents oxidation,” he notes. “We just finished a box last week that we’d had for four-and-a-half weeks, and the final two glasses were just as good as they were when we opened it.”

Where to Get It
The first public release of The Get Together will take place this Labor Day Weekend at Ron Yates Wines in Hye and Spicewood Vineyards in Spicewood. During the holiday weekend, guests will receive two free unbreakable and reusable stemless wine glasses with purchase.
The boxed wine is now available for sale online here as well on the websites of Ron Yates Wines and Spicewood Vineyards.
Say it all together now: Texas forever!
