McKinney man arrested after firefighters discover his wife’s dead body in their bedroom closet

A McKinney man is behind bars after police found his wife’s dead body in their bedroom closet Friday evening.

McKinney Police and Fire say they were called to perform a welfare check at 42-year-old Eslam Mohamed’s home by a family member in Dallas. The concern originated from relatives overseas, who believed Mohamed was having a medical emergency.

McKinney fire officials arrived on scene first and forced entry into the home, where they found Mohamed on a couch with minor injuries and “visible blood on his hands,” according to a press release.

Firefighters say they asked Mohamed if anyone else was at home, to which he referenced a female in a closet. Firefighters then located a woman in the master bedroom closet with a stab wound to the neck. A knife was found nearby, officials say.

The woman was later identified as Mohamed’s wife, 40-year-old Kubra Zafer.

Police say Mohamed was taken into custody and transported to a McKinney hospital for treatment, then booked into Collin County jail for murder.

No other details have been released and the investigation remains ongoing. McKinney PD says that anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the crime tip line at 972-547-3480 or email crimetipline@mckinneytexas.org.
