Megyn Kelly caller on Trump’s comments about Rob Reiner: “He’s very out of touch with America”

EMILY JASHINSKY (HOST): Andrea in Oklahoma, you’re on The Megyn Kelly Wrap-Up Show. What’s on your mind this afternoon?

CALLER: Hi. So I supported him since he came down the escalator, and I lost a lot of respect for him when he was asked about Charlie Kirk’s death and he pivoted and started talking about the new ballroom being built. So this doesn’t really surprise me considering the contention with Rob Reiner’s tweets about him. But I think he’s very out of touch with America, and it’s sad that Charlie’s gone because I think he kind of helped Trump keep his finger on the pulse of America. And the bubble he’s in now, I don’t know what’s going on.

JASHINSKY: Oh, that’s such a good point. I had totally forgotten about that. Thank you so much for the call, Andrea. I had totally forgotten about that. That was also completely tone deaf.

He does have those moments. Surprising for somebody who I think actually does really have his finger kind of on the pulse of pop culture in a way most politicians don’t. So it does — it is sometimes surprising, when he comes out with something that’s out of touch.

We had one caller talk about how it’s always — he brings it back to himself a lot. That is definitely true. He brings it back to himself a lot.

This is — I’m being very negative, and we’re having a bit of a debate here, but I do think it’s it’s pretty interesting to hear from how ordinary people who maybe loved Rob Reiner, loved Trump, hated the way that Rob Reiner talked about conservatives, but don’t think it’s, you know, maybe the time to be remembering him in that sense.
