MGK Takes Over Cleveland for Raucous 3-Day MGK Day Celebration: Exclusive Photos

MGK hosted his annual MGK Day in Cleveland over the weekend. The three-day event finished with a street and art festival, which featured MGK headlining the Mall C main stage with a free performance in front of an estimated 30,000 fans on Sunday (Aug. 10), celebrating the release of the hometown hero’s Lost Americana album.

Festivities for the weekend kicked off with XXCon, which featured an acoustic set from MGK at Jacobs Pavilion, a venue he recalls performing at in the early stages of chasing music fame in front of 15 to 20 people. MGK played host to the Street League Skateboarding competition, which took over Cleveland and saw skating icons in attendance such as Ryan Sheckler.

MGK united different crews from his hometown and led 2,000 motorcycle riders across Cleveland for the City Ride with Harley Davidson to start Sunday. After surprising his daughter with a brand new Acura, MGK was on the receiving end of his own surprise when Mayor Bibb presented Kells with a guitar featuring a portrait of his face that will forever live in the halls of the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

After getting buckets as part of the Celebrity Shootout basketball game, which saw appearances from former NFL player Joe Haden, former UFC champion Stipe Miocic and a cameo from Druski, MGK headed to the stage to deliver an hour-plus set, taking fans on a journey through his discography and the live debut of several Lost Americana tracks.

The riveting performance included highlights like bringing superfan “Machine Gun Emily” onstage to rap “Alpha Omega” and a fireworks show to close out MGK Day, as Kells added another chapter to his love letter to his hometown.
