Microsoft Draws Flake For Using AI Image For Xbox Hiring Post After Laying Off 9000+ Staff

A Microsoft employee shared a hiring post on LinkedIn for Xbox, which has been impacted by the company’s spree of massive layoffs of over 9000 employees. The irony of the job posting is the image attached to garner attention and sure, it is drawing a lot more than Microsoft expected.

The post reads, “The Xbox Graphics team is hiring folks with experience with device drivers, GPU performance, or related validation or engineering system experience.” The two positions based out of Redmond, Washington, are 1) Senior Software Engineer – Xbox Graphics and 2) Software Engineer 2 – Xbox Graphics. While the second job grants 50% work from home, the first one allows for 100% remote working.

Salary for a senior engineering post ranges between USD $119,800 and $234,700 per year, and a different base pay of USD $158,400 – $258,000 per year for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area. For the other role, the base pay is USD $100,600 – $199,000 per year, while the same for the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area is USD $131,400 – $215,400 per year.

Reactions poured in on the hiring post. One user jibed, “How about you hire a graphic designer first???” while another user asked, “How can such mediocrity be found in the Xbox team???”
